Long-time occasional lurker of these lovely forums, and I'd just like to announce a little treat I found out about by chance. I'm not sure if this is old or new news to you people, but the PS3 game Valkyria Chronicles is coming out at whatever point in the future it's coming out, and its character roster includes two very, very familliar faces.

Unfortunately, my urge to buy a PS3 increased by about 200% after seeing this picture. Time to get a job, I guess...

Officially, I think it's the first time...

Unofficially, the Official guide for the original dreamcast PSO had a section on game themed characters, including Skies of Arcadia, with Vyse, Aika, and Fina...

Interesting. I wonder if this may be apart of some campaign by Sega to bring attention back SoA. But why I wonder...

Skeptic Side: Dammit don't start that foolish hopin'! It's probably just an homage, 't aint nothin' more. Geez, next thing ya know you're gonna start believin' that you'll actually get laid sometime soon. Then I have to go to work on ya again.

Well, there's this, and then there's that rumour that a sequel's in development. Though we haven't caught any wind of it ever since the rumour was announced. It's all very mysterious... It could just be that they realize how many SoA players are yearning for at least a cameo appearance and would probably buy a game based on that. Hopefully not though, that's just cruel...

The only thing that keeps me hopeful is the fact of how long it took for a NiGHTS sequel. I'm really just yearning for a similar experience that Skies gave. If they just made a spiritual successor that would be enough. But no. None of those fucking game developers ever get the idea to create an RPG that involves the elements that made Skies so awesome. Even FFXII, which I am almost positive took elements from SoA (come on Panelo's resemblance to Aika is too much to be ignored), didn't even do it right.

Come on Square, if you're gonna make a world based on Airship travel, then give us a fucking overworld to traverse in a fucking airship! Not a FFXI ripoff bs.

Dammit, I just want more exploration, more discoveries and more more more!

Well, I imagine that when the game gets a western release there will be a good chance for a 360 version as well. The game was originally being developed for the 360 so I'm sure it would be an easy matter.

Not sure aika even looks right as a solder..

I'd like a sequel, but very much like the old one, I think I am not alone.

However if they just make completely different games and take the old fans for a run, I may lose respect for the original.

perhaps I'm too conservative on this matter however I'm worried that they will piss us around quite soon. Especially now the merge has happened, any company involved will have a clearly different take on it, and will mainly consider the maximum money potential. These images just make me really feel they are going to disregard us soon..

I've found it easier ignoring sequel threds.

These aren't the Aika/Vyse/Fina from SoA really. It isn't the same universe/continuity. It's just a cameo for the fans.
